Finnish band Battle Beast has just released their third album, Unholy Savior. I first learned of Battle Beast from the song “The Band of the Hawk” off their first album, Steel. Throughout the first two studio albums you can find bits of the manga Berserk and this one is no different. The song “The Black Swordsman” refers to Berserk’s protagonist Guts. Guitarist and songwriter Anton Kabanen goes admits it too, saying that “the reason behind writing songs about that particular series is that I can strongly relate [to] certain characters and to their way of thinking and feeling.”
If you feel like you’ve gone back to the 80s while listening to their songs you’d be right. I recommend listening to their earlier releases Steel and Battle Beast.
